To become Insructor

To become a driving instructor, you need to be 21 years or over and have held a full UK driving licence for at least 3 ½ years.

Eastend driving school only uses fully qualified instructors Approved Driving Instructor (ADI), so you will need to complete the entire process to ADI education before starting your Eastend franchise.

Driving instructor Training

The ADI qualification has three parts:
  1. Theory test
  2. Practical driving ability test
  3. Practical instruction ability test
You must pass all 3 parts, in sequence, within a time of 2 years. If you don't complete them all within that time, you'll need to start again from part 1. You can take the theory test as many times as you need, but you'll only have three attempts at each of the practical tests within those two years.

To be a great driving instructor

It's not just about qualifying the 3 parts. To be a good driving instructor, you need to know how to encourage your students to do their utmost. You will have exceptional communication skills and be talented to stay calm under pressure, even when a student is doing something wide of the mark repetitively!

Eastend Driving Instructors are fully qulified (ADI)

Qulified Driving instructors

Surveys shows nine out of ten pupils passed theory and practical tests first time were taught by a qualified driving instructor.

A qualified ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) will have to display a green badge while giving you driving lessons. However apprentice instructors (PDI) are given a pink licence so they can acquire knowledge and experience prior to getting their full licence.

A registered driving instructor means they are under the supervision of DSA, a government body, who is responsible for maintaining and checking the standards of all ADIs.

All Eastend driving instructors went through the full process of becoming ADI. To become ADI everyone must pass through the following tough procedure.

  • Have held a full UK driving licence for four years
  • Pass a tougher theory test than the one learner drivers take
  • Pass a strict practical driving test
  • Reach and keep up a high standard of instruction - the standard of tuition given by the ADI is regularly checked by a supervising examiner from DSA
  • Be registered with DSA

Most of our students come to us through recommendation from friends and family. We have very strict rules regarding keeping, good reputation, being reliable and punctual and keeping our car clean.

Our ADI will advice you on the following issues

  • all aspects of driving
  • all aspects of Theory and Hazard test
  • what books to read
  • when to take your test
  • how to practice
  • We have bengali and Urdu Speaking Instructors

Unlike most other driving schools we don't use trainee instructors. This is because we believe it isn't fair to charge the full lesson price for an instructor with little training and no formal qualifications. With Eastend you are therefore guaranteed a fully qualified, DSA approved driving instructor who has successfully completed around 1 year of thorough expert training. All Eastend instructors have been CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) checked.

The trainee instructors are given a pink licence for 6 months so they can gain experience to teach.

If the prices of driving lessons are too cheap, then you should clarify,
if the lessons are for a full hour,
if the driving instructor is qualified to teach, the car that you will drive.
Cheap lessons may not always be good and you may end up spending more.
